Nothing really happens in this city: Shooting down a magpie (2024)

A bird call, presumably from a magpie, was picked up on a walk. In my three years of stay in London, this was my first time encountering one. Magpies are one of the most commonly spotted birds in my hometown, and therefore, I had to doubt if the singing I was hearing is a magpie or not. It surely had something in common with the ones from my hometown, but also a significant difference in its frequency and tone.

The seventh performance of the project wherein I emulated the sound of a shotgun using only my vocals and directed them toward the tree to simulate shooting down a bird.

The shotgun sound for emulation was selected, reflecting upon my experience with them in Western films. 17 Layers of vocals were used in total. EQ meters from below 1000Hz were adjusted to boost up the bass of the vocals.
